BYD make almost all components in-house and even supply parts to other car manufacturers. Thanks to their rich engineering background, BYD cars have advanced technologies and components unique to them. This includes a rotating touchscreen, a feature on all models.
BYD is a pioneer in automotive technology and has developed a new, safer and more efficient battery for electric vehicles – the Blade battery. Passing a comprehensive range of extreme tests, the BYD Blade battery is one of the safest in the world.
The unique flat shape improves cooling efficiency and preheating performance. It has safely passed the nail penetration test without emitting fire or smoke.
The space utilisation of the Blade battery has increased by over 50% compared with traditional battery packs, providing enhanced energy density and therefore a longer range.
The Blade battery has a long battery life, with over 5,000 charge and discharge cycles.
BYD’s third generation of electric car platform is even safer thanks to the structural improvements and higher efficiency provided by the world’s first 8-in-1 electric powertrain as standard.

The BYD Seal is the first BYD car to use cell-to-body (CTB) technology. The battery is built into the structure of the car, providing more stability and a more spacious interior. As a result, the Seal has achieved a five-star Euro NCAP rating.

The BYD Seagull is an electric super-mini that is low-cost and ideal for city driving. It is not currently available in the UK, but this may change. The Seagull has recently arrived in South America as the ‘Dolphin Mini’ and costs the equivalent of £15,930.
